Partner Spotlight: Loudoun Free Clinic

We wanted to start a small ‘series’ on our partner clinics. NOVA Scripts partners with over 15 clinics in Northern Virginia and each of these clinics provide invaluable services to uninsured patients. So let’s kick this ‘series’ off by honoring Loudoun Free Clinic who was one of the first clinics we ever partnered with.

A little about the clinic: Loudoun Free Clinic (LFC) was founded in 1998 to serve patients that were uninsured and have a household income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level (which to give you an idea is $23,340 for one person, $31,460 for two people, $39,580 for three etc.). Their staff includes less than 10 full time employees, 5 part time members, and a volunteer pool of more than 150 people. In the past year alone they have served more than 1,500 at need patients. LFC offers multiple services to their patients including diabetes clinics, and weightloss and nutrition management classes.

LFC and NSC seven years strong: LFC helps their patients get the most cost effective medications possible through a combination of vouchers to retail pharmacies, by applying to Patient Assistance Programs on the patient’s behalf, and by sending chronic medication scripts to NSC. LFC was the second clinic to partner with us since our inception in 2007. They joined our services that July. Since our partnership first began we together have been able to provide more than 18, 271 prescriptions worth more than $3,875,032 to more than 1,580 patients. Through our joint services we have provided medications to more than 428 patients this year alone.

LFC also partners with NSC and Kaiser Permanente on programs looking at increasing patient medication regimen adherence, and reducing stroke and heart attacks in type two diabetics through a unique paring of affordable, well-tested medications.

We think that the work done by LFC is absolutely invaluable. They help a patient population who is often overlooked from receiving aid simply because they reside in one
