NOVA ScriptsCentral Recognized for Helping More Than 8,440 Patients Receive Free Prescription Medication

(FALLS CHURCH, VA) – NOVA ScriptsCentral was recognized on November 15, 2023 at an event in Richmond for its role in providing more than 8,440 patients with free prescription medication to support the improved health of their patients. The clinic is able to provide low-income, uninsured patients with medication to treat a variety of chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension because of the connection with the statewide nonprofit, Rx Partnership.  For more than 16 years, NOVA ScriptsCentral has worked with Rx Partnership to ensure that patients have the critical medication needed to maintain and improve their health, without having to worry about the cost of medication.

“The staff and volunteers at Virginia clinics that serve the uninsured provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients who struggle to afford basic needs – and would likely not see a physician or fill their prescriptions if the clinic wasn’t there for them.” said Amy Yarcich, Executive Director of Rx Partnership . “The clinics serve as an essential safety net for vulnerable patients.”

“The support that Rx Partnership provides to our clinic saves our patients thousands of dollars in medication and results in patients being able to take medication as directed – they can see real improvement in their health because of Rx Partnership,” said Dr. Donney John, Executive Director at NOVA ScriptsCentral . “We’re proud of our work over the past year to help patients despite the challenges we have faced with the pandemic and growing need in the community”.

NOVA ScriptsCentral received its certificate of recognition from Rx Partnership during the Virginia Association of Free & Charitable Clinic’s conference in Richmond.

About Clinic:

NOVA ScriptsCentral was founded in 2006 as a charitable pharmacy that delivers high-quality, culturally competent pharmaceutical care, and supportive services to low-income, under- and uninsured populations in Northern Virginia.

The NSC model is based on research of best practices and focuses on the economy of scale: All of our partner clinics use our pharmacy for the benefit of all, rather than developing their own pharmacy.

To date, we have reached over 30,000 patients and filled 625,000+ months of prescription medication valued at over $80 million.

Our vision is to improve the health of the community by empowering patients to take charge of their health and eliminating barriers to care.

About Rx Partnership

In the past year, RxP provided 51,306 prescriptions to over 8,300 patients valued at $15.3 million – approximately $22 in medication for every $1 donated to the organization. Since its founding in 2004, Rx Partnership has provided more than $273.8 million in free medication to over 80,685 low-income, uninsured people throughout Virginia and, in early 2023, the organization and 30 participating clinics celebrated the milestone of providing 1 million prescriptions . While access to care has improved since Rx Partnership’s founding with fewer people uninsured in Virginia, the rising costs of medication means that RxP’s services are needed now more than ever.
